Japanese Haiku

“The courage of the poet is to keep ajar the door that leads into madness.”
Christopher Morely (1923)

Today’s poem is a Japanes haiku by the monk Noin

After the storm
On Mount Mumuro
The colored leaves
Float like brocade
On the River Tatsuta

This poem reminds me of why I like haiku.

The Japanes can be so much more quaint with their poems and not trouble the reader to understand or interpret 30 lines of verse.

It is concise, and if you think of it, conveys powerful imagery.
