Handbook of Poetry Forms

How to use this handbook:

Read through the Glossary of Poetry Terms first, at least the first four terms.  This will help you to understand the most basic elements of poetry and enable you to better understand the descriptions of different types of poetry.

The poems are arranged in the order of most structured or formula-like poems, to least structured or freer forms of poetry.  Use the alphabetical listing in the Index to find a specific type of poem if you know what you are looking for.

This is a handbook of poetry forms to teach you a little about how to write different forms of poetry.

In it, we will discuss different terms related to poetry, as well as explore 15 different kinds of poetry.

You can use the links on the left hand side of the page to navigate, and you can try your hand at writing and sharing different forms of poetry at the poetry forum

I hope you find this guidebook useful and that you enjoy it.

If you own a poetry website or any other type of website and want to include some of this content, you may include up to 5 pages as long as you provide an active hyperlink to http://www.poetstrain.com at the end of each page that you use on your website.
